WOMEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Eckerd at Florida Tech

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After five straight home matches to open the season, the Eckerd College women's soccer team hits the road for the first time as it will visit Florida Tech on Saturday at 7:00 PM.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Tritons (3-1-1, 0-1) saw their four-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Wednesday via a 2-0 loss to Saint Leo in the Sunshine State Conference opener.  Florida Tech (3-2, 0-1) is also looking to get into the win column in SSC play after falling 2-0 to No. 1 Barry on Wednesday.  In a small piece of symmetry, both matches went to halftime scoreless before the winning teams scored twice in the second half.

LAST TIME THEY MET
A penalty kick converted by Arie Anahory in the 46th minute held up as the Tritons knocked off FIT, 1-0, on October 11, 2014, at the Turley Athletic Complex.  The Panthers outshot Eckerd, 17-7, but Morgan Crescent stopped 12 shots in the victory.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Last season marked Eckerd's first-ever win over Florida Tech as the Panthers lead the all-time series, 8-1-2.  The teams split a home-and-home series last year with Eckerd's win counting as a conference contest.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Florida Tech's two-loss record may be a bit deceiving as both losses have some against top 25 teams.  In addition to Wednesday's loss at Barry, the Panthers dropped a close 2-1 decision to No. 22 St. Edward's (Texas) on the road.  The majority of the team's scoring comes from Keira McCarthy (five goals) and Aubri Williamson (four goals).  Williamson missed 2014 with an injury but proved to be a dangerous scorer as a sophomore with 14 goals.

SHOT-STOPPER
Junior transfer Angelique Ulmer has continued to shine in goal for the Tritons with the unenviable job of replacing all-conference keeper Morgan Crescent.  On Wednesday, Ulmer stopped a season-high nine shots including one at close range that she punched off the crossbar.  Ulmer has made several difficult saves on close shots and in one-on-one situations.
