ST. PETERSBURG – The Eckerd women's soccer team opened its 2026 campaign in commanding fashion, blanking the Middle Georgia State Knights by a score of 4-0 on Thursday night at Johnson Field.

The Tritons wasted little time getting on the board as Lisa Fureh found the back of the net just two minutes into the contest. Freija Aflenzer and Jillian Doerger combined on the assists to give Eckerd the early advantage. Eckerd doubled its lead in the 16th minute. Ashley Nelson set up Abby Knipp, who buried her first goal of the season to send the Tritons into halftime with a 2-0 advantage. Eckerd outshot Middle Georgia State 12-3 in the period, with Madi Winn's lone save in net for the team coming on a penalty kick to keep the Knights off the board.

Less than two minutes into the second half, the Tritons struck again as Aflenzer lifted one into the net into off an assist from Doerger. Sylvia MohrSting capped the scoring in the 58th minute with her first goal of the season to complete the 4-0 victory.

Eckerd controlled the match throughout, out-shooting Middle Georgia State 25-5, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Tritons also held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.

Furéh and Aflenzer each finished with a goal, while Aflenzer added an assist. Doerger dished out two assists, while Nelson added one. Winn stopped both shots she faced in goal to record the clean sheet.

Eckerd returns to Johnson Field on Saturday to host Delta State at 11 a.m.
