ST. PETERSBURG – The Eckerd Tritons women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with the visiting Delta State Statesmen on Saturday at Johnson Field.
Eckerd dominated the shots category, posting 11 in each half for a 22-7 advantage for the contest. Eight of the team's 11 shots on target came through the first 45 minutes of action, with
Kailani Casazza and
Jasmine Gallo each recording two apiece in the period. Delta State registered just two attempts in the half, neither on the mark.
The two teams combined for eight shots in the first 25 minutes of the second, but none of which were on target. Eckerd kept the pressure on through the final 20 minutes with three of their five looks stopped by the goalkeeper.
Madi Winn made both of her stops in net in the second half.
Casazza finished the game with three shots, all on the mark, while
Madison McKeon also added three attempts.
The Tritons will host Georgia College on Wednesday.
