DELAND, Fla. – In double header action, the Eckerd College sand volleyball team fell to Division I opponent Stetson University in both matches, 3-0, 3-0.
Gabriella Reis Guimaraes and
Madison Whiting were cut down by Kaley Melville and Julie Bassett in back to back sets, 21-6 and 21-8. The EC duo teamed up again in the night cap falling 21-10 and 21-5.
The No. 2 slot paired
Ali McAlvany alongside
Tjasa Kotnik. Stetson's Maren Rygh and Kristin Lind bested the Tritons duo, 21-6 and 21-12. McAlvany and Kotnik pushed the Hatters to the brink in the second match falling in set one, 21-13, before taking set two, 21-18. The third set, which is played to 15, came down to the wire with SU pulling out the 15-13 victory.
Katie Arnette and
Emily Schadow took on Savannah Byl and Holly Reschke in the No. 3 position. The Hatters grabbed the first set, 21-13. Arnette and Schadow fought hard in the second set coming up just short, 21-18. The duo dropped both set in match two, 21-13 and 21-5.
Eckerd will play their first home match in program history on Saturday, March 28. The Tritons will host Webber International for a double header beginning at 10 a.m.
