Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's basketball team pulled off their second upset over a top 25 team this season defeating No. 10 Rollins College on Saturday, 75-63.

The Tritons showed no fear as they hit the court against the top 10 opponent. Trine Kasemagi was able to get going immediately accounting for Eckerd's first four points. Kasemagi was looking to build off of her 14 point performance on Wednesday against Florida Southern.

A back and forth battle ensued with the Tars grabbing their second lead of the game, 18-15, with 12:22 remaining in the first half. The EC offense proceeded to let it rain three pointers inside the McArthur Center with buckets coming from Rana Thomas, Margaret Sundberg and Ivana Grbic.

Kayla Bowlin was an assist monster in the first half often finding Kasemagi under the basket for two points. The freshman went into the locker room with 11 points while Thomas led all scorers with 17 points. The Tritons left the court holding onto a 39-34 lead.

Kasemagi continued her scoring success in the second half putting in the first six points for the Tritons. Thomas went to the free throw line and knocked down both shots putting her team up 51-43 with less than 15 minutes to play.

Victoria Vine gave Eckerd their largest lead of night with a three to go up 59-46. Rollins then began to crawl back into the game going on a 9-0 run and holding EC scoreless for six and a half minutes. The Tars managed to get back within four of the Tritons with under five minutes to play.

With time running out on the shot clock, Vine threw up a WNBA range three that found nothing but net to end the scoring drought. A steal by Thomas who took the ball coast-to-coast for a layup gave EC a 12 point lead. The Tritons were able to hold onto the lead and bring home the 75-63 victory.

Kasemagi set a career mark with 30 minutes played on her way to a double-double performance with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas also had a career night on the court posting 29 points. Grbic, Vine and Sundberg all ended with seven points each.

It was the team's first upset over a top 10 opponent since January of 2013. Eckerd (13-3, 4-2) have now won four in a row. EC will take their winning streak to St. Leo (6-9, 1-5) on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
