Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team fell to Warner University, 12-4, on Tuesday night at Royals Field.
The Royals (19-26-2 overall) combined for 19 hits to move past the Tritons (21-17, 8-10 SSC).
Warner jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out, two-run home run from junior Anthony Davole.
Warner combined for six singles and took advantage of one Tritons' error to extend their lead to 7-0 in the second, chasing out EC starter Richard Kowalski after the left-hander tossed 1.1 innings.
The Tritons tabbed their first run off of Davole in the fifth as freshman Lucas Luopa led off the inning with an infield single. A single from Matt MacMahon and a sacrifice fly out from Rowdy Andrews would bring Luopa around to score.
Eckerd added its final three runs in the seventh as junior James Petika knocked a two-run double to left field, and senior Shane Bishop flew out to center field to score Petika.
Warner added two more runs on two outs in the sixth and scored three runs in the seventh on a two-RBI double from junior Dylan Gross and an RBI single off the bat of junior Nick Gallipeau.
Dovale earned the win on the mound to improve to 4-1 on the season. The right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out four in six innings.
Eckerd returns to the Turley Athletic Complex to face Clearwater Christian College on Thursday at 6 p.m.
