LAKE WALES, Fla.
- Junior first baseman Chris Hanson slammed a three-run home run and freshman starting pitcher Nick Hill hurled six strong innings with seven strikeouts as the Eckerd College baseball program rallied against Warner University for a Tuesday afternoon victory, 6-3.

The Tritons (15-27 overall) put an end to their recent frustrations by scoring four runs in the top of the eighth inning against the Royals (21-33 overall). EC had clawed back from a pair of one-run deficits at the end of the sixth and seventh innings.

Eckerd and Warner were looking to break the series tie this spring after a split was registered in a season-opening doubleheader at the Turley Athletic Complex back on Feb. 2.

Senior Jordan Huchro hurled a pair of scoreless innings to close out the game for the save and freshman left-hander Taylor Owens was the pitcher on record for the win in middle relief, representing the first of his career.

With the Tritons trailing 3-2, Hanson took the Royals deep with his team-leading sixth home run featuring senior Lee Spinelle and junior Mike Vavasis already on base.

Spinelle had plated junior Lincoln Dunham earlier in the inning for the game-tying run. Dunham greeted a new reliever from the Warner bullpen with a single to begin the eighth frame.

Eckerd scratched out the game's first run in the top of the second when sophomore Mike Abraham was credited for the RBI after Vavasis walked and moved to second on a wild pitch.

Hill was lights out against the Royals' offense as six relief appearances preceded his first career start this afternoon. A pair of errors led to unearned runs, but the righty was tracked and that helped lead to a career-high strikeout total.

Eckerd is back on the road tomorrow evening for another matchup against Webber International University. The Warriors will host the Tritons for a 6 p.m. first pitch scheduled in Babson Park.
