SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University maintained its league-leading pace at the top of the Sunshine State Conference standings against the Eckerd College softball program on Friday evening, pounding out 16 hits en route to a 14-0 five-inning victory to begin a weekend series.
The Tritons (18-29, 4-15 SSC) managed three hits from the combination of freshman

Kirby Parnell.
Saint Leo starter Alana Tabel pitched her way with the complete-game shutout to earn win No. 13 on the season. The Lions (32-14, 12-4 SSC) still lead Barry University by a full game at the top of the closely-contested SSC standings.
SLU erupted for six runs in the bottom of the first inning and took a commanding 11-0 lead at the end of three completed frames following a five-run third.
Sarah Steiner tripled and was 3-for-4 with four RBI and a pair of runs scored, Rachelle Gremo was 2-for-2 with three RBI and Kelsey LaNeave also enjoyed a three-hit game to pace the Saint Leo offense.
