Women’s Soccer Topples Johnson & Wales University in Home Opener, 4-1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. –
 Senior Dana Treat scored a pair of goals, sophomore Arie Anahory netted a score and assist and freshman Rachel Price continued a torrid start to the season as the Eckerd College women's soccer program stormed past Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, 4-1.
 
A trio of freshmen also recorded their first collegiate points as Devon Morse, Fallon Vaughan and Elena Madrazo, recorded assists.
 
The Tritons (2-0, 0-0 SSC) have now outscored their first two opponents by a combined score of 8-1 and sustained a strong start to the fall in their home opener against the Wildcats (1-1, 0-0 TSC).
 
After pitching a shutout against Florida College to begin the season, the Tritons kept the heat on the defense again, holding a 24-6 advantage in shots over their opponent.
 
Treat netted a goal, her first of the year, at the 16:29 mark in the first half past J&W goalkeeper Cailyn Rizzo.
 
The crafty defender tallied a pair of the assists in her fall debut against the Falcons, a sign of her creativity on the ball for an efficient EC offense.
 
Anahory broke through with her first goal and assist of the season after she had numerous tough-luck opportunities fall short against Florida College.
 
Holding a 1-0 advantage going into the locker room, Eckerd continued to play strong by scoring three consecutive goals in the final period.
 
Price scored her third goal in two games as she gave the Tritons a comfortable 3-0 cushion with about 25 minutes remaining in regulation.
 
Johnson & Wales prevented the shutout thanks to a shot from the foot of Tamatri Gale in the 83rd minute in unassisted style.
 
Tritons' sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Crescent notched the win in net with a complete-game, 90-minute effort. She made one save to move to 2-0 on the season.
 
Her counterpart Rizzo recorded four saves in the losing effort.
 
Eckerd is back in action under the lights next Saturday, Sept. 15, as it faces the University of Tampa in its Sunshine State Conference opener.
 
Game time at Pepin Stadium is slated for 8 p.m.
