FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Strong performances from Eckerd College women's basketball junior
Krystal Charles and senior
Taylor Young paved the way for the 50-48 win over Sunshine State Conference opponent Nova Southeastern University on Wednesday evening.
Charles led the team in scoring with 17 points and added eight rebounds. Young had 15 points, six rebounds and three steals.
The Tritons (12-6, 6-4 SSC) led the way in the three-point battle, hitting 6-of-19 shots from behind the arc. EC is now tied for fourth in the league standings, pulling even with Lynn University with a 6-4 SSC mark.
Senior
Linsey Niles was strong on the glass for the Tritons, grabbing ten rebounds. Niles scored seven points and added two steals and two assists.
Eckerd's defense held Nova Southeastern (11-8, 4-6 SSC) to just 3-for-18 shooting from behind the three-point line. Sophomore guard Jessica Russi made two of the team's three-pointers.
Nova Southeastern junior guard Meixandra Porter led the Sharks in scoring with 13 points on the night.
The Tritons will come home this weekend to the McArthur Center to play host to No. 14 ranked Rollins College (16-3, 8-2) this Saturday at 2 p.m.
