FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Eckerd College volleyball team bounced back quickly after a tough loss to conference opponent Florida Southern College last week, sinking Nova Southeastern University on Friday night, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15).

The Tritons (10-6, 4-1 SSC) outperformed the Sharks (4-14, 1-4 SSC) in nearly every category on the night in NSU Arena.

Eckerd maintained its current runner-up pace in the Sunshine State Conference standings after Florida Southern swept Rollins College tonight.

After the Tritons claimed the first set, NSU stormed back to an early lead in the second set. The Tritons quickly turned it around with clutch kills from their front line to regain momentum.

It turned out to be another impressive night for standout sophomore right-side hitter Ali McAlvany as she led the Tritons with 13 kills and 17 digs.

McAlvany came into tonight's match leading all SSC players in kills per set at 3.85.

Junior Lindsay Biggs also contributed to the Tritons offense putting down 10 kills of her own. Sophomore Katarina Milojevic chipped in with eight kills on the night while senior Olivia Fraser helped with her five.

Junior setter Madison Burr dished out 21 assists to her hitters while newcomer Emily Schadow put up 14.

The Sharks were chasing the Tritons in every frame, and while NSU tried to make several comebacks throughout the night, the Tritons were too much to handle with Fraser and Milojevic each recording four more blocks.

The Tritons hit .234 on the night while the Sharks attacked at a .084 clip.

The Tritons will quickly turn their attention to conference opponent Lynn University as they stay on the road for another matchup tomorrow afternoon in Boca Raton at 4 p.m. (time changed from the originally-scheduled 2 p.m.)

The match will be played at St. Andrews High School instead of the previously-scheduled facilities at Florida Atlantic University.
