Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– The Eckerd College women's soccer program didn't take a streaking Clearwater Christian College program lightly on Thursday evening, pitching a non-conference shutout under the lights at the Turley Athletic Complex, 4-0.

Freshman defender Michelle Spesshardt opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play before fellow freshman Fallon Vaughan made a successful return from illness and drilled the top of the crossbar prior to the first half ending.

Sophomore Arie Anahory recorded a hat trick in the assist column, helping on three of the team's four goals. Freshman Lauren Monce and senior Dana Treat also scored in the final period to aid EC's offensive output.

The previously unbeaten Cougars (13-1 overall) had just two common opponents on the schedule this year with the Tritons (7-3-2, 3-2-1 SSC), Johnson & Wales University and Florida College.

The Tritons were dominant on and off the ball to pick up its fifth win in the last five matches played.

Off a free kick, Anahory found Spesshardt in near isolation with CCC keeper Kim Vilchez. Spesshardt eluded one defender and then slotted a shot past Vilchez's right side into the bottom left corner of the net.

For Spesshardt, it marked her second goal of the season after heading home the game winner against Barry University.

Vaughan scored in unassisted fashion at the 39:44 mark in the first half, holding position in front of the box for a 2-0 EC lead.

After scoring twice against Florida Christian College, Monce displayed more scoring prowess against the Cougars' defense, slipping behind the back line for an open look against backup netminder Brooke Buffaloe.

About two minutes later, Treat sustained a superb senior season with her fifth goal of the fall, leaning in for a perfect header on another free kick from Anahory to cap the scoring in the 70th minute.

Anahory now has a team-high 14 points on the season (3 G, 8 A) and Treat is close behind with 13 points (5 G, 3 A).

Anahory tied Dawn Delo (2000) for the second-most assists in a single season in school history tonight. Stephanie Schwobe holds the single-season record with 13 helpers dished out in 1999.

EC sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Crescent kept the Cougars bench silent after she laid herself out in front of the box to stop a golden corner kick opportunity by Tori Hale. Hale was denied point blank as Crescent's fingertips deflected the ball at the last second.

Crescent finished off the shutout effort in net and kept an opponent off the scoreboard for the fourth time this season.

The Tritons have a key test in front of them this weekend, heading to Lakeland for a Sunshine State Conference matchup on Saturday against Florida Southern College at 5 p.m.
