TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa's Patrick Donahue broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the 20th-ranked Spartans added two runs in the eighth en route to a 4-1 win over the visiting Eckerd College baseball team on Friday evening.

Donahue also had a solo home run in the third inning to pace Tampa (33-15, 14-8 Sunshine State Conference). Damon Elder went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Spartans, who had seven hits overall.

David Regidor had an RBI single for Eckerd (17-30, 5-17), while Bryant Gibson and Aaron Shapiro added two hits each. The Tritons managed nine hits on the night.

Eckerd right-hander Joey Cuda (4-6) took the loss, though the junior kept the Tritons in it throughout. Cuda struck out five to finish the season with 110 K's – good for second in the Tritons' single-season record book.

Tampa's Josh Thrailkill (3-3) was credited with the win, allowing just one run in 7 1/3 innings. Tim Kiley got the final four outs to notch his seventh save.

The start of the game was delayed 90 minutes due to earlier rain.

The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.
