ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's and women's tennis teams each took victories over Lake SuperiorState on Friday at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The men's team (2-3) cruised to a 9-0 win, while the women (1-3) claimed a 5-4 victory.
On the men's side, the Tritons combined to drop just 11 games in taking the three doubles matches. The squad continued the momentum in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets.
On the women's side, the Tritons battled back after dropping two of the three doubles matches to win four singles contests. Stephanie Jenks clinched the match with a three-set win (2-6, 7-6, 6-1) over LSSU's Tess Marton at No. 2 singles.
Both teams will begin Sunshine State Conference play at noon on Saturday at home against Florida Tech.
