Baseball Uses Big Inning in Win Over Clearwater Christian

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team used an 11-run fourth inning to cruise to a 19-4 win over visiting Clearwater Christian on Tuesday evening at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Joe McLemore, Stephen Pelc and Bryant Gibson combined for six hits and six RBIs to lead the Tritons (11-9).  All nine Eckerd starters reached base at least once and scored a run.

Anthony Katchuk (1-2) tossed seven innings and gave up just two runs en route to his first win of the year. The right-hander stuck out three.

Ryan McDonald and Blake Urquhart each had a hit and an RBI for the Cougars (8-21).

The Tritons broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run double from David Regidor (1-for-4, 2 runs).

Eckerd broke the game open in the fourth, sending 16 batters to the plate – helping Eckerd to its biggest inning of the year.

Wess Hollins (1-for-2, 2 runs), Dan Capra (1-for-4) and Gibson (2-for-3) each had two-run hits during the frame.

The Tritons will return to Sunshine State Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Florida Southern.
