ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Flagler combined for 22 runs and 22 hits in a doubleheader sweep over the Eckerd College softball team on Thursday at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Saints used an eight-run fifth inning to take an 11-1 win in the opening game before scoring in the first three innings of an 11-3 win in the nightcap.
Breezy Collings went 3-for-7 with a home run and seven RBIs to help Flagler (12-0) remain undefeated. The Saints are off to their best start in program history.
Meagan Camp went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the second game for Eckerd (1-7), and Kelly Coston went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the opener.
The Tritons had nine hits overall.
After Flagler won the first game, the Saints jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second contest following a four-run third inning. But Eckerd fought back with three runs in the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back RBI singles from Chelsea Jeffares and Camp.
Flagler, though, put the game away with four runs in the fifth to take a 10-3 advantage.
Eckerd will play host to Ave Maria in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
