GARDEN CITY, N.Y.
– Senior guard Kati Rausberg tied a career high with six three-point field goals on her way to a game-high 20 and the Eckerd College women's basketball program kept rolling, taking down Adelphi (N.Y.) University on Sunday, 68-57.

Emilie Hesseldal added 16 points and reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Linsey Niles was just one rebound shy of another double-double, finishes with 15 points and nine boards, respectively.

Rausberg equaled her personal-best single-game total for three pointers made, matching six treys against Florida Tech (Dec. 3) earlier this year and Palm Beach Atlantic University (1/30/11).

The Tritons' (7-1, 2-0 SSC) offense ignited early by hitting five of their first six shots with an 18-2 run to begin the game and held the lead in wire-to-wire fashion against the Panthers (4-7 overall).

Eckerd enjoyed a healthy lead for most of the first half before Adelphi engineered a 9-0 run with two minutes before the intermission that trimmed the Tritons' lead to three.

AU's Sade Jackson sank a three pointer with 11 seconds remaining on the clock before Amy Buccilla beat the first-half buzzer with a layup.

Out of halftime, Eckerd pushed the lead to double-digits again after Rausberg drilled back-to-back three-pointers that had the Tritons up 42-32 with 14:29 left.

But the Panthers were resilient and climbed within three points again on separate possessions. Another long ball from Rausberg, this time with 9:02 remaining, gave EC more breathing room with a 52-42 advantage.

Eckerd converted enough free throws down the stretch as Adelphi reverted to fouling with two minutes in regulation. Hesseldal made four straight in the latter stages and finished the game with eight made shots from the charity stripe.

Taylor Young dished out six assists and pulled down five rebounds as the Tritons outrebounded their counterpart, 36-32. The Eckerd defense also held Adelphi to just 28.6 percent shooting in the second half.

Jackson was one of three Panthers to reach double-digit scoring totals as she finished with 10. Amanda Campusano had a team-high 12 and Kelly Mannix also scored 10.

The Tritons conclude their trip up north by playing against Southern Connecticut State University tomorrow afternoon. Tip-off in New Haven, Conn., is scheduled for 6 p.m.
