TAMPA, Fla. – The Eckerd softball team dropped their final games of the season as they fell to the University of Tampa Saturday afternoon at the UT Softball Field. The Spartans defeated the Tritons 0-7 in game one and 1-12 in five innings in the second game.
Tampa scored their runs in game one from errors that were made by the Triton defense. The Spartans scored one run in the first inning, then six in the bottom of the sixth inning. Four Triton players got hits for Eckerd, which were Emma Docking, Amanda Kolonick, Mackenzie Dawson, and # Sarah Agnew#.
Tampa picked up where they left off in game two, scoring 12 runs within the first three innings of the game. Eckerd was able to score a run in the top of the third inning when Docking scored of a muffed throw by the catcher. Two hits were given up by the Tampa pitching staff, which came off the bats of Alex Sasso and Agnew.
The Tritons finishes their 2010 season with a 15-35-1 overall record and a 5-19 Sunshine State Conference record.
