Baseball Loses Two at NSU

, Fla. - The Eckerd College Baseball team fell to 15-17 overall and 1-11 in SSC play as a result of a pair of losses at the hands of the Nova Southeastern Sharks (23-15, 7-5 SSC) on Friday afternoon at the NSU Baseball Complex. The Tritons fell in game one, 15-0, before losing game two, 7-1.

In game one, the Sharks posted seven runs in the second inning, including a grand slam by Rhys Roberts, to take a 7-0 lead. NSU starter Isaac Hicks (5-0) did the rest, holding the Tritons without a run over six complete innings of work while allowing five runs and striking out four.

Three Shark relievers combined with Hicks to keep the Tritons off the scoreboard. Jay Moroff (0-2) took the loss for Eckerd.

In game two, the Tritons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Minner Labrador but the Sharks would respond by scoring seven unanswered runs, taking the lead for good on a two-run homer by Haven FitzSimmonds in the second.

Joey Cuda (4-3) took the loss for the Tritons while NSU's Ryan Whelan (2-3) earned the win.

Eckerd will return to action on Tuesday, April 6 as it hosts Webber International at 7pm at the Turley Athletic Complex.
