David Regidor, making his first career start at second base, went 3-for-3 in a losing effort as the Barry Buccaneers (15-7, 2-2 SSC) defeated the Eckerd Tritons (14-8, 0-3 SSC), 10-3, on Friday evening at Barry's Feinbloom Field.
Barry jumped on the board early, posting a three spot in the first inning against Eckerd starter
Joey Cuda via a two-run single by Chris Leon and a run-scoring single by Evan Ashley.
Eckerd broke through the second time through their order as Minervino Labrador hit a solo homer, his 10th of the season, off of Barry starter Charley Short, making it 3-1.
The Bucs, however, would go on to score seven unanswered runs as the Tritons only posted two more runs in the game. One of those runs came on an RBI single by
Chris Clinton while the other the other run scored on a balk.
Cuda (3-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season while Short (3-1) earned the victory.
Eckerd will return to action on Saturday as it concludes its SSC series with the Buccaneers with a doubleheader beginning at 1pm.
