ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Three days after
Joey Cuda's eight inning gem, sophomore RHP
Johnny Lancaster (2-0) followed his teammate's outing with 7.1 strong innings of work, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while punching out four batters as the Eckerd Tritons (8-2) defeated the Florida Memorial Lions (5-8), 3-1, on Friday evening at the Turley Athletic Complex. The game was completed in a brisk two hours and 14 minutes.
Chris Clinton put the Tritons ahead, 2-0, in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer, his second of the season. Florida Memorial could not answer until the top of the fifth when Rudy Ruiz scored following an Eckerd fielding error, making it 2-1.
The Tritons would add an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when
Matt Abraham plated
Wess Hollins with a single up the middle.
Marc Reed pitched two thirds of an inning while
Francisco Collazo threw a perfect ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.
