ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Sophomore forward Maggie Swanbeck had a goal and two assists to lead the Eckerd College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting Montreat College on Sunday at the Turley Athletic Complex.
Dana Treat and Brianna Murphy each added a goal for the Tritons (2-11), who out-shot Montreat 35-2 – including 15-0 in the first half. Swanbeck, Murphy, Treat and Nicole Davis combined for 24 shots.
Kelly Zahorski picked up the win in goal.
The Tritons got the scoring going in the 32nd minute when Swanbeck scored off a Treat assist. Treat made it 2-0 in the 64th minute off an assist from Swanbeck.
After Montreat's Alex Mash cut the Eckerd lead in half with a goal less than three minutes later, the Tritons put it away when Murphy scored in the 84th minute.
Mash had both shots for the Cavaliers (1-13-1).
The game served as the Third Annual “Kick for a Cure,” with proceeds from the game going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Eckerd will return to Sunshine State Conference play at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Saint Leo.
