Box Score

PENSACOLA
, Fla. - Ashley Lutz led all scorers with 17 points to go along with eight rebounds but it was not enough to push the Eckerd Tritons (2-3) past the West Florida Argonauts (5-2) on day one of the UWF Argo Classic on Friday evening at the UWF Fieldhouse.

In the first half, a layup by the Argos' Amy Drake gave West Florida a 17-8 lead with 12:53 to go but Taylor Young responded five straight points, followed by a jumper by Kati Rausberg, to close the gap to 17-15. After the Argos extended their lead to 31-23 with a 14-8 stretch, the Tritons would hold West Florida to that total for the remaining 3:54 of the half, closing the gap to 31-28 going into the locker room after a layup by Lutz.

In the second half, the Tritons would thrice trim the Argos' lead to just one point after a layup by Young, a three by Rausberg, and a pair of free throws by Tijana Brdar but Eckerd could not overtake West Florida as UWF's Tiffany Williams gave West Florida a 61-53 with 5:20 to go that sealed the win for the home team.

For the game, West Florida shot 44.6 percent from the field while holding the Tritons to 35.1 percent. The Argonauts out-rebounded the Tritons by a slim 38-37 margin.

Brdar and Rausberg added 14 and 12 points, respectively, while Drake and Dominique Boykins each led UWF with 15 points.

Eckerd will return to action on Saturday as it faces West Alabama at 3pm, Eastern Time, on day two of the UWF Argo Classic.
