HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Eckerd men's golf team placed fourth at the Griffin Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, wrapping up the 54-hole tournament Tuesday at Mission Inn Resort's El Campeón Course.
Eckerd posted rounds of 288, 294, and 299 for a three-round total of 881, finishing just one stroke behind third-place Trevecca Nazarene and one ahead of Wilmington (Del.).
Simon Germain led the Tritons, tying for 11th with a 3-over performance. Germain opened the event with a 3-under 69 before carding consecutive rounds of 75.
Three Tritons finished together in a tie for 18th at +6. Henry Wigg bounced back from an opening-round 79 with a team-best 68 in the second round before closing with a 75. Huey Cunningham ecorded rounds of 70, 78, and 74, while Tyler Van Dusen turned in a steady 74-73-75 performance.
Thayne Thomas tied for 47th at 15-over 231, while Jayson Ross finished tied for 54th at 21-over 237.
