ST. PETERSBURG, – Hayden Nash was named the Triton/Lion Invite Most Valuable Player, while Sydney Williams and Peyton Walker joined her on the All-Tournament Team following a standout weekend for the Eckerd volleyball team.
Nash paced the Triton attack over the weekend, producing 28 kills while hitting .349 across seven sets. She averaged 4.00 kills per set while adding four blocks and two service aces. She delivered 13 kills on a .417 hitting percentage in Friday's sweep of Franklin Pierce, adding two blocks and an ace. She followed with a match-high 15 kills while hitting .308 in Saturday's four-set victory over Henderson State, where she also added two blocks and an ace.
Williams anchored the Eckerd defense throughout the tournament, totaling 57 digs over 10 sets for an average of 5.70 digs per set. She opened the weekend with 16 digs and an ace against Georgia College before collecting 23 digs against Franklin Pierce. Williams closed the tournament with another 18 digs against Henderson State. She also totaled eight assists and two aces over the three matches.
Walker provided a noticeable presence in the middle, registering 24 kills on a .322 hitting percentage while totaling nine blocks over 10 sets. She opened the tournament with nine kills without an error on 17 attempts, hitting .529 with three blocks against Georgia College. Walker followed with 10 kills on a .474 clip and three blocks against Franklin Pierce before adding five kills and another three blocks against Henderson State.
Eckerd went a perfect 3-0 over the weekend, sweeping Georgia College and Franklin Pierce on Friday before defeating Henderson State in four sets on Saturday. The Tritons improved to 8-3 on the season with the three victories.
