Mallo named SSC Distance Runner of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Nathalia Mallo of Eckerd track has been named the Sunshine State Conference Distance Runner of the Week for outdoor track, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Mallo won her third race of the season, taking first in the 1,500-meter run at the HBCU Relays Experience with a time of 4:48.81, nearly three seconds ahead of the field and good for a personal best. She also placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.13.

Mallos is the first-ever Eckerd cross country/track student-athlete to win a weekly award from the SSC.
