TAMPA, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team split its first day on Tampa against a pair of conference foes, defeating the Barry Buccaneers by a score of 4-1 before falling to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish by the same score.
In match one, the Tritons collected three straight-set victories, starting at the No. 1 spot as
Brooke Hand and
Anna Jupin defeated their opponents by a score of 21-17, 21-7.
Addie White and
Maddie Prois had a dominant opening set to win at No. 2 by a final of 21-9, 21-13, while
Madison Hardbarger and
Jocelyn Escoffery secured a 21-12, 21-17 decision at No. 4.
Marti Boser and
Emma Samuelson won the first and third sets to wrap up a victory at No. 5.
Jessi Meghreblian and
Natalie Harvey picked up the lone win for the Tritons against the Sailfish at No. 4, down their counterpart in three sets with a score of 12-21, 21-19, 15-12
Eckerd will continue play tomorrow against South Florida and Tampa.
