Women's soccer No. 24 in first edition of NPI rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Eckerd women's soccer team has checked in at No. 24 in the first edition of the NCAA Power Index ratings, which includes games through Oct. 11.

The Tritons are the third school listed from the SSC and fifth from the region, currently sitting at 5-1-6 against Division II opponents this season. Eckerd has an 0-1-2 mark against teams ranked above them, playing to a draw against Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern, who are both inside the top five.

The NCAA Power Index, or NPI, is a ranking system used in Division II and Division III to evaluate team performance. NPI considers game results and the strength of opponents to calculate a team's NPI value and ranking.

NPI calculations update throughout the season as teams play additional contests and opponent NPI values change. A team's final NPI is not determined until the final games and rankings of the season are complete.
