MELBOURNE, Fla. – Freija Aflenzer delivered a late equalizer as the Eckerd women's soccer team battled No. 1 Florida Tech to a 1-1 draw Saturday evening on the road.

Florida Tech opened the scoring in the 15th minute, but Eckerd created opportunities throughout the opening half. Amy Woodhead forced a save in the fifth minute, while Aflenzer rattled the left post in the 22nd. Jillian Doerger added three first-half attempts as the Tritons entered the break trailing 1-0. Both teams had five looks in the opening 45 minutes.

Aflenzer nearly found the equalizer again in the 57th minute, striking the left post for the second time in the match. Florida Tech continued to apply pressure, but Madi Winn and the Triton defense kept Eckerd within one despite facing 13 second-half shots from the Panthers.

The Tritons finally broke through late. Aflenzer took a pass, battled with her defender to wrestle the ball away, and fired her shot into the goal to level the match at 1-1. Eckerd held firm the rest of the way to secure the road result against the nation's top-ranked team.

Aflenzer paced the Tritons with four shots, including two on goal, while Doerger also registered four attempts. Woodhead added Eckerd's other shot on target. Winn made three saves in goal.

The Tritons move to 4-2-4 overall and remain unbeaten in SSC play at 1-0-3. The team will be back in action next Saturday at Lynn.
