Open Sailing

Sailing completes first regatta in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Eckerd Tritons sailing team competed in its first race of the 2025-26 season over the weekend at the SAISA Top Nine event hosted by College of Charleston. The Tritons earned sixth place overall as a team with 208 total points. The B team posted 92, with the A totaling 116.

Saturday started out light with a wind delay and action began around 12:30 p.m. A total of 10 races took place in the afternoon with consistent wind conditions and mild current. The Tritons' B squad of Paul Rodrigues Jr. and Avery Guck earned three top-five finishes in the 10 races on Saturday, rounding out the day with their best performance in third in the final race. The tandem's first four races all resulted in top seven placements.

The A team of Jordan Vieira and Tia Soultankakis wrapped up Saturday with four top-10 finishes in their final five races. The two posted a day best of sixth in race No. 8.

The Tritons will be back action next weekend for the SAISA South Top Six and USF Trophy.
