The Eckerd Tritons sailing team competed at a pair of regattas over the weekend. The team took 10th place at the College of Charleston Fall Open and 13th at the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard.
On day one in Connecticut, the teams waited for the breeze to fill in and around noon it filled to 4-8 knots. Six races were completed before a small wind delay, and the final two were done around 5:45 p.m, For Eckerd, A division was
Paul Rodrigues Jr. and
Avery Guck, B was
Jordan Vieira and
Tia Soultankakis. The Tritons finished the day in 12th overall, with the AÂ division with 101 points and B division with 76 points.
On Sunday, there was a wind delay until 1 p.m. with a breeze of 5 to 8 knots. Three races were completed in each division before the cutoff time of 3 p.m., with the Tritons finishing up in 16th Place overall out of 20 teams. A division got 18th in their division with 146 points and B division got ninth with 112 points. Guck and Rodrigues boasted their best performance in the second race of the weekend in fifth, while Vieira and Soutlankakis won the first race on Saturday to highlight their weekend.
On day one in Charleston, the current was stronger than the wind, allowing just four races per day per division. For Eckerd,
Peter Miller and
Peyton Elizabeth Seidle made up the A group, and B was
Anderson Osinski and
Lily Tracey. Eckerd was in 9th with 64 points after Saturday's action.
On Sunday it started off with 6 -8 knots with a strong current. The wind built throughout the day reaching 10-12 knots, which provided the opportunity to race nine times. the Tritons ended up in 10th overall with 225 points. A division ended up in 8th with 98 points, while the B division ended in 12th with 127 points. Miller and Seidle saw their best race come late on Saturday with a fourth-place standing, while Osinski and Tracey also had their best finish in race No. 7 with a seventh-place mark.
Next weekend, the Tritons will be at Yale Competing in the Atlantic Coast championship qualifier(10/4-5), Â and at Jacksonville University competing in the The Dick Allsop Trophy on October 4th
