PETERSBURG, Va. -- The Eckerd men's golf team wrapped up its stay at the Griffin Invite on Tuesday, finishing in sixth place overall as a team.
Reggie Fear entered Tuesday's action in the lead for the Tritons and ended in a tie for first with Paul Esnault of Catawba. Esnault won the tiebreaker over Fear to conclude Tuesday's action and take home the top spot. Fear shot 6-under par across the three rounds, including a -5 performance in round two.
Drew Campbell was next for the Tritons in a tie for 27th. Campbell had a strong opening round at 4-under par and was briefly in the lead with Fear halfway through the second. His score of 222 placed him +6 for the tournament. Close behind Campbell was
Henry Wigg in 30th just one stroke behind. Wigg had his best showing in round two at just 1-over par and wrapped up the two-day invite with a +3 performance on Tuesday.
Thayne Thomas in 52nd and
Tyler Van Dusen in 75th rounded out the lineup for Eckerd.
As a team, the Tritons finished in sixth out of 14 teams with a score of 884.
The team will be back in action Sept. 29-30 at the Jay Jennison Cup in St. Augustine, Fla.
