Eckerd Softball Fall Camp Dates Released

ST. PETERBSURG, Fla. – The Eckerd softball team will host its annual showcase camps as announced by head coach Michelle Frew '91. This fall, there will be two separate events on Saturday, September 20 and Saturday, September 27.

Coach Frew returned to her alma mater last year, leading Eckerd to one of the best in program history.  The team finished with its best conference record and
one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation, improving from 13 to 30 wins. The Tritons picked up seven wins against nationally-ranked opponents and improved to become the Sunshine State Conference highest powered offense in 2025.  Eckerd led the league in runs/game, OPS, on base pct, slugging percentage, and home runs. The pitching staff also boasted the league-leader in strikeouts.

In 2024, Coach Frew led the University of Charleston in the NCAA DII World Series. UC concluded the season with a 51-8 record, and Coach was honored by being named Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Charleston finished ranked No. 7 in the national poll,  the highest ever ranking in program history. Over the past four seasons, Coach Frew's teams have won three conference championships, two NCAA Regional Champioships, and the NCAA Super Regional.

One of the winningest coaches in DII history, Coach Frew is happy to be back to Eckerd which is one of the best locations in Florida. The campus boasts its own beach in St. Pete, and the campus community is close-knit. The strong academic reputation of Eckerd speaks for itself as the college produces graduates that make an impact in their chosen professions.

The Showcase is designed for players who have an interest in adding to their competitive experience. Participants will be involved in various skill workouts facilitated by the Eckerd softball players and coaching staff and then will have the opportunity to showcase their skills during live games scheduled throughout the day. Players and their families will also take a guided tour of campus.  Past events hosted by Coach Frew have filled up, and a waiting list will be generated when the event reaches capacity.
