LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Eckerd volleyball team has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a recipient of the annual Team Academic Excellence Award, released by the organization.
The award, founded in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs received the award this season.
EC posted a 3.42 team GPA this year and finished the season with a 14-14 (7-13 SSC) record. EC posted a six-match win streak early in the season.
The recognition is the sixth in program history for volleyball.
