ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons volleyball team will begin its season on Friday, Sept. 5 at the home Eckerd Classic that will span across two days.
The invitational is set to take place at the MacArthur Center beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday. Eckerd will play at 2:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m., competing against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and Ohio Dominican before taking on Maryville and Bemidji State to close out the Classic on Saturday.  The Tritons are coming off a 14-14 record in 2024 and a conference record of 7-13, going 5-8 at home. The team was 2-1 in last season's Classic, knocking off Emory & Henry and Adelphi prior to falling to No. 4 ranked Wayne State.
Eckerd returns key contributors from last season, including its top kills leader inÂ
Kinga Michalska. The rising senior averaged 3.73 kills per set in 2024 and led the team in aces with 66, which was good for top of the Sunshine State Conference.
Nyla Muskovin adds to the offensive strength with over 200 kills last year, while
Gabi Jedrzejczak is back after posting 852 assists and averaging 8.88 per game in 2024. Defensively,
Sydney Williams returns as the top defender after posting 3.56 digs per game and a total of 356.
Hayden Nash, who led the team with 67 blocks last year, will also be key for the Tritons.
For those unable to attend in person, all matches will be streamed live on the SSC Digital Network, and live stats will be available for all 10 matches. Tickets are priced at $10 for a single-game pass and $30 for a tournament pass for general admission. Seniors can purchase tickets for $7 per game or $15 for the tournament. Students, faculty, staff with a valid ID, and children 12 years and under, can attend for free.
