JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Eckerd open sailing team opened up the spring slate with a fifth-place finish led by a strong performance in the B Division at the SAISA Top 18 Invite over the weekend.
The Tritons finished with 93 points, three points off NC State in fourth.
The B Division of
Paul Jr. Rodrigues and
Avery Guck led Eckerd with 38 points and a third-place finish, highlighted by five top-five finishes. The duo placed third in races No. 1, 3, and 5.
In the A Division,
Jordan Vieira and Tia Soultanakis finished with 55 points in seventh place. They had back-to-back fifth-place finishes in races No. 2 and 3.
Host Jacksonville won the regatta with 55 points.
Eckerd returns to the water next weekend, hosting the Mendelblatt Team Race at the Doyle Sailing Center.
