AVE MARIA, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's cross country team placed in fifth place as a team and saw two runners finish inside the top 25 on Friday morning at the Ave Maria Invitational.
Nathalia Mallo was the top runner for the Tritons, earning a top-20 standing in 18th after finishing the 5,000m race with a time of 20:43.4.
Abigail Davidson was next for Eckerd in 25th with a final time of 21:29.2, while
Hannah Workman's time of 22:15.9 was good for 31st overall.
Summer Sorensen placed 35th and
Rylan Rajewski earned 43rd to round out the top five for the Tritons.
As a team, Eckerd tied for fourth with St. Thomas, but due to tiebreaker rules, moved into fifth overall.
The team will be back in action on Oct. 17 for the Ed Holloway Classic in Lakeland, Fla.Â
