CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Sofia Dyhre and Akari Miura collected academic honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) with a selection to their All-American Scholar Team.
Dyhre, from Gothenburg, Sweden, boasts a 4.0 grade-point average in International Business. She played in all 10 tournaments with a 78.2 stroke average while posting five top-25 finishes. She tied for seventh at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate on February 12-13 and was tabbed the SSC Golfer of the Week following her play.
Miura, from Tokyo, Japan, holds a 4.0 GPA in Biochemistry. She played in six of Eckerd's 10 tournaments with an 82.2 stroke average.
A total of 1,497 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics, with the minimum cumulative GPA being 3.50 and honorees must play in at least 50 percent of the teams scheduled contests.
Dyhre and Miura are two of 31 student-athletes within the Sunshine State Conference to receive the honor.
