Tritons Sweep Day Two of AVCA Small College Championships

Tavares, Fla. - The Tritons beach volleyball team swept day two at the AVCA Small College Championships in Tavares, Florida, topping Emmanuel, 3-1, in pool play before beating Erskine, 3-1, in the Challenge round.

Eckerd (8-18) opened the day defeating Emmanuel (11-20), 3-1. 

Elissa Johnson and Bekah Overly were dominant in the three's flight, taking their match in straight sets and limiting their opponent to single-digits in set two. Rachel Jackson and Teagan VanderMey closed their match in a similar fashion in the No. 5 draw. The pair took their match in straight sets, limiting their challengers to single-digits in set two. Brooke Hand and Jessi Meghreblian clinched the match in the No. 4 spot with a 21-16, 21-15 victory. 

The Tritons faced Erskine (17-19) in the challenge match, defeating the Fleet 3-1 to advance to the Bronze pool tomorrow. 

The top three flights clinched the match for the Tritons, with Madison Hardbarger and Anna Jupin grinding out a 25-23 set-two victory in the top flight. 

The Tritons are on to the Bronze pool tomorrow, where they will face Florida Southern at 10:30 AM. The winner will move on to the Bronze championship at 2:15 PM, and the consolation match will take place at 1:00 PM.
