ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd beach volleyball team closed its annual Battle on the Bay with a pair of losses to Palm Beach Atlantic, 5-0, and Saint Leo, 5-0, at the Baker Beach Volleyball Complex on Saturday.
Eckerd (0-10) dropped its morning contest with Palm Beach Atlantic (9-5), 5-0.
The Tritons' top flight of Anna Jupin and Madison Harbarger nearly knocked off PBA's top pairing of Gabriella Aziz and Anna Dunbar after taking set one 21-10. The Sailfish battled back to take set two 21-16 to force a third set. Aziz and Dunbar took the match, with a final score of 15-9 in set three.
Eckerd dropped the remaining four flights in straight sets.
Saint Leo (5-3) topped the Tritons, 5-0, in the second match of the day.
Eckerd dropped all five matches in straight sets to Saint Leo.
Eckerd hosts its final contest of the year Tuesday at the Baker Beach Complex for their Teal Out in a tri-match with Webber and Florida Southern starting at 2:00 PM.
