ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team dropped a pair of contests to Florida Southern by scores of 6-2 and 2-1 at the Turley Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
FSC scored in the opening frame in game one with two runs. Eckerd pulled within one in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Megan Diaz. However, the Mocs doubled their score in the following frame with a pair of runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single.
FSC added another run in the sixth for a 6-1 favor before Gracie Ciccarello added an RBI double in the bottom of the inning. However, Eckerd was unable to pull any closer.
Game two was a pitchers' dual as both pitchers were perfect through 3.2 innings before a Moc reached on a hit-by-pitch and Ella Coiner single in the bottom of the frame.
Abby Lucas broke the stalemate in the fifth with an RBI double. Olivia Johnsons's no-hit bid ended in the sixth, surrendering a single.
The Mocs tied the game with a solo homerun to lead off the seventh. The Mocs added another run in the inning on a bases-loaded single and Eckerd was unable to even the score in the bottom of the stanza.
