Biggs, Duffy, Kearse Selected for 2025 Eckerd Athletics Hall of Fame

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Eckerd Athletics is proud to announce Lindsay Biggs, Matt Duffy, and Lance Kearse as the three members chosen to the 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame class.

Lindsay Biggs (volleyball: 2010-13)

Lindsay Biggs is scattered throughout the Triton volleyball record book as a three-time All-American, the only multiple time All-American in program history. She earned AVCA third-team honors her sophomore year before collecting second-team accolades as a junior. She was tabbed to the honorable mention team as a senior. She led the squad to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's only Sweet 16 appearance in 2011. She was also selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team in 2012, the first volleyball player in Eckerd history to garner the honor and just the fifth student-athlete all-time in departmental history. 

Biggs was a five-time all-region honoree, garnering three AVCA first-team accolades in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She received Daktronics All-Region Second Team honors in 2011 and first-team laurels in 2012. 

She received Sunshine State Conference First Team honors in her last three seasons and was tabbed to the all-freshman team in 2010. 

Over her career, she appeared in 120 matches, tallying 1,496 kills, 1,326 digs, 207 blocks, 119 aces, and 60 double-doubles. She ranks second in program career records, while her digs rank sixth. In single-season records, she ranks eighth in kills in 2012 with 417 and 10th in kills per set in 2012 with 3.50. 

She was also tabbed to the SSC All-Decade First Team in 2020, First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2012, and was a two-time SSC Offensive Player of the Week. 

Matt Duffy (men's soccer: 2009-12)

Matt Duffy led Eckerd as a defender from 2009-12. He was the first player in men's soccer history to be named an All-American, receiving D2CCA Third Team accolades in 2012 after leading the team to the SSC Tournament Championship game.  He is also the only men's soccer player to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, garnering first-team laurels in 2012. 

In 2012, he was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He was tabbed to the All-SSC First Team in 2011 and 2012 and the second team in 2010.  He received three all-region honors, including D2CCA/Daktronics First Team All-Region in 2011 and 2012 and NSCA All-Region in 2012. 

He was also selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team and SSC All-Tournament team in 2012. 

Over his career, he played in 66 games, scoring 10 goals with nine assists.

In 2013, he received the prestigious James R. Harley Award Winner and was tabbed the Eckerd Senior Scholar-Athlete. 

Lance Kearse (men's basketball: 2009-12)

Lance Kearse was a three-year standout for the men's basketball team after transferring to Eckerd. He scored 971 points over his three years in a Triton uniform, adding five double-doubles and two triple-doubles. He added 348 rebounds, 125 assists, 64 blocks, and 42 steals while shooting 48.89 percent from the floor. 

The 2011-12 season was his best year as he was selected to the fourth team D2 Bulletin All-American team and named the SSC Player of the Year after leading Eckerd to an NCAA Tournament appearance. He also garnered first-team All-SSC and NABC First-Team All-South Region accolades. He was also selected to the Reese's NABC Division II East vs. West All-Star Game. 

Over his career, he ranks in four career categories, including eighth in free throws made,  16th in free throw percentage, 12th in blocks, and 20th in points per game. In single-season records, he ranks fourth in free throws made and 18th in points. He also owns the single-game record for free throws made with 17 against Nova Southeastern in 2011-12. He was named to the SSC All-Tournament Team in 2010-11. 

After Eckerd, he played three seasons of professional basketball overseas and received an invite to the Jaguars camp as a tight end in 2013. 

The 2025 Hall of Fame Class will be inducted during Eckerd reunion weekend with a ceremony on March 7 at 10:00 AM.
