FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Drew Campbell vaulted up the leaderboard in rounds two and three for a second-place finish at the Shark Invitational at the Grand Oaks Golf Course on October 7-8.
After an opening round 74, Campbell carded 68 in the second round and moved to second place following a 65 in the final round.
Eckerd finished 11th with rounds of 293-293-287 for a three-round total of 873.
- Campbell's final round 65 moved him 12 spots up the leaderboard.
- Campbell led the field on par-4s with a 3.85 average.
- He fired 41 pars, one off the leader. He added 10 birdies.
- He played his final two rounds bogey-free.
- DiZinno ranked tied for fourth in the field on par-5s with a 4.33 average.
- DiZinno posted 25 pars and 10 birdies.
- Kirby added 30 pars and six birdies.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Two Freshmen have now posted top-five finishes this year, as Reggie Fear opened the season with a win at the Griffin Invitational.
- Campbell's final round 65 was one stroke off tying the program record set by Justin Ayanian on February 26, 2018.
- Campbell was two strokes off the leader.
- Thomas and DiZinno each recorded an eagle in the tournament.
- Ethan Gough of Barry won the tournament with an 8-under 205.
- Embry-Riddle won the team title with a 15-under 837.
