MELBOURNE, Fla. - After leading Eckerd to an undefeated opening weekend,
Jaida Clark and
Aidan Leak received accolades from the Sunshine State Conference, both named SSC Defensive Player of the Week.
Clark collects the first honor of her career after leading the Tritons at the net, averaging 1.55 blocks per set. Clark also averaged 2.27 kills per set while hitting at a .327 percent clip.
She ended the tournament with her top performance against Bentley (Mass.), including a career-high 11 kills and seven blocks. She also added three digs. She added seven blocks, five kills, four digs, and two aces over Seton Hill (Pa.). She opened the tournament with nine kills, three blocks, and a .583 hitting percentage over Dominican.
Eckerd went 3-0 on the weekend with a sweep over Dominican (NY) and a pair of 3-1 wins over Seton Hill and Bentley.
Leak also garners the first honor of his career after leading Eckerd to a 2-0 shutout over Delta State on Friday. He peppered nine shots while collecting six saves.
Eckerd volleyball (3-0) travels to the Emmanuel Tournament on Friday and Saturday, starting with Erskine (SC) at 1:00 on Friday, while men's soccer (1-1) heads to West Alabama for a 7:00 PM (CST) kick off on Friday.
