CLEVELAND - The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2022-23 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards recipients. Eckerd had 55 student-athletes receive the award, as released by the organization on Thursday, August 3.
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level work, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year. Only NCAA Division II-sponsored sports qualify for the award. Eckerd student-athletes in sailing were not eligible.
In its 16th year, a record-breaking 19,646 student-athletes from 196 institutions were recognized for the 2022-23 Academic Achievement Awards. These numbers shattered the records for the largest number of student-athletes nominated since the award program's inception.
Men's soccer (10), volleyball (9), baseball (8), and softball (7) led the department in recipients.
