Amelie Alcantara fired a 1-under 71 in the final round of the NCAA South Regional to vault 14 spots up the leaderboard for an 11th-place finish, qualifying for nationals in Eureka, Missouri, next week.
Alcantara started the day by finishing her second round, which was halted due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday. She teed off on No. 13 with a par before firing a birdie on the next hole. She added three straight pars but finished with a double bogey on No. 18 for a 77.
In the final round, Alcantara started on hole No. 17 with a par before adding a bogey on No. 18. She followed with three straight pars, a birdie on No. 4, and seven more pars to move up the leaderboard, sitting two strokes off the individual player leaders.
Alcantara bogeyed No. 12 but responded with back-to-back birdies on her next two holes to move into the second qualifying spot. She added two pars on the final two holes to finish 11th.
Alcantara's 71 was the lowest round of the day.
She carded rounds of 77-77-71 in the tournament and punched her ticket to the NCAA Championship Final in Eureka, Missouri, on May 15-20 at the Fox Run Golf Course.
Her appearance in nationals is the first in program history.
