TAMPA, Fla. - The Eckerd open sailing team placed sixth at the Mendelblatt Team Race with a 6-8 record over the weekend.
Griffin Richardson,
Matthew Monts, and
Carter Morin were the team's skippers, with
Amelia Johnson,
Brooks Jordan, and
Elissa Martinez as crew. They went 5-4 in the opening round.
In the opening round, Eckerd opened with a win over Clemson in a 1-3-6 victory combination before dropping a race to Charleston. Eckerd then won three straight heats over Embry-Riddle, Florida State, and Jacksonville before taking a 1-3-4 victory over Rollins later in the day to advance to the final-six round.
EC went 1-4 in the finale with a victory over Florida State.
The College of Charleston won the team race with a 13-1 record.
Eckerd returns to action next weekend at the Bob Bavier Team Race and Turner Team Race in Charleston, SC.
