Eckerd Posts Trio of Fifth Place Finishes at Weekend Regattas

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing teams had a busy weekend on the water at three events with consistent sailing across the events with a fifth-place finish at all three events- the SAISA Women's Open, Florida Trophy, and Hanbury Trophy. 

Eckerd finished fifth at the Florida Trophy in Jacksonville, Florida, with 92 points. 

Lily Schwartz and Elissa Martinez paced the A division with 48 points, finishing third in race three. Tia Soultankakis and Sophie Leduc comprised the B Division with 44 points. The tandem finished third in the opening race and second in the third. 

Jacksonville won the event with 34 points. 

At the Hanbury Trophy in Newport News, Virginia, Eckerd placed fifth with 167 points. 

Matthew Monts skippered the A division with Brooks Jordan (1-10) and Tess Levanway (11-18) as crew, finishing with 84 points. They placed third in race eight. Griffin Richardson skippered the B division with Levanway (1-10) and Jordan (11-18) as crew with 83 points. They placed second in races three and 13. 

Princeton won the regatta with 102 points. 

Eckerd placed fifth at the SAISA Women's Open in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Tia Soultanakis and Sophie Leduc composed the A division with 59 points. Lily Schwartz and Elissa Martinez paced the B division with 24 points and a fourth-place finish. They finished second in race three and third in races one and four. 

Eckerd returns to the water next weekend at the Nelson Roltsch Team Race in New Orleans, Louisiana.
