DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The B Division led the Tritons with four first-place finishes as the Eckerd open sailing team won the Greg Popp Trophy on Sunday.
Eckerd finished with 25 points, a seven-point lead over South Florida.
Morgan Smith and
Eloise Weiss competed in the B Division, finishing with 10 points. The tandem won the first race. They slid down the leaderboard following a second and fourth-place finish. However, they responded and vaulted to the lead following wins in the final three races.
Carter Morin and
Tess Levanway sailed the A Division with 15 points. They had a trio of third-place finishes to start the event, followed by a win in race four.
Eckerd returns to the Doyle Sailing Center on Saturday for the Eckerd Trophy.
