ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Eckerd College Director of Athletics Tom Ryan '87 announces four elevated positions within his leadership team.
Billy Evers '04 has been promoted to Associate Director of Athletics for Advancement and Operations, while Bill Mathews '79 has been elevated to Associate Director of Athletics for Gameday Operations and Facilities. In addition, Amanda Green '16 has been elevated to Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Communications, and Sarah Duren has been promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine.
"We are very fortunate to have these four talented individuals on our staff at Eckerd, and we're thrilled to have them step into these elevated leadership roles to strengthen our department," stated Ryan.
Evers, Mathews, Duren, and Green, in addition to Becky Clark, the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations/Senior Woman Administrator, round out Ryan's administrative leadership team.
"Our senior leadership team has worked tirelessly over the past few years. We continue to develop professionally, while we assist our Tritons to achieve new milestones. Their passion and dedication to enhancing the growth of our student-athletes, our department, and Eckerd College is unmatched and is reflected in their work every day," added Ryan. Billy Evers '04 - Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement and Operations
Evers enters his seventh year with the Tritons. He spent his first four years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations before transitioning to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Advancement and External Operations, overseeing advancement operations within the department. His primary responsibilities focus on alumni engagement, the cultivation and stewardship of all Triton Club and Teal & Steel members, and corporate sponsorships. Over the past year, Eckerd saw a record number of participants and engagement in the 18th annual Matthew T. McDermott Annual Golf Scholarship Tournament. In addition, Evers launched the inaugural Month of Giving campaign, facilitating a tremendous amount of new donors to the program. He also assisted in the McArthur Center's $3.5 million renovations, including a new entrance, sports medicine facility, locker rooms for volleyball and basketball, a lounge for all student-athletes, navy bleachers, and a new court design.
Bill Mathews '79 - Associate Director of Athletics for Gameday Operations and Facilities
Mathews has served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities for the past eight years and enters his 33rd year working at Eckerd. After a lengthy career in the dugout of the Tritons' baseball field, Mathews was named an assistant athletic director in 2011 before transitioning solely into the athletic department's administrative role following the 2014 season, serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics. In his role, he oversees all game operations and management, facilities operations, and risk management for the department. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Mathews has been a professor of Physical Education at Eckerd for the past 31 years.
Sarah Duren - Assistant Director of Athletics, Sports Medicine
Duren enters her second year with the Tritons, joining Eckerd last year as the Director of Sports Medicine. She oversees sports medicine coverage and planning for all 14 intercollegiate teams. In her first year, she elevated the sports medicine department, including revamping Eckerd's insurance policy and developing a holistic recovery, injury prevention, and strength program. In addition, she was integral in establishing a connection with the University of South Florida's Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program. Duren also has over 16 years of experience within sports medicine at the Division II level overseeing all aspects of sports medicine coverage and serving as an NCAA drug-testing site coordinator and insurance coordinator.
Amanda Green '16 - Assistant Director of Athletics, Marketing and Communications
Green served the past three years as the Director of Athletic Communications and enters her sixth year with the department. Green's primary responsibilities for the department include creative design, branding, statistics, video streaming, social media content/coverage, marketing, promotions, and all aspects of public and media relations efforts for Eckerd's 14 intercollegiate teams. Over her tenure, she has been instrumental in developing and producing the popular student-athlete "Triton Talk" video series, in addition to the growth of the Tritons' social media presence, including a 30 percent increase in engagement over the 2021-22 year. Last year, she led the redesign and launch of EckerdTritons.com, which includes enhanced branding and new facilities videos. In addition, she developed the department's first-ever Athletic Annual Report publication this summer. She also co-organized two events for Eckerd's College Programs Series (CPS) last year: the inaugural Women in Sports Day Forum and a drug and alcohol education seminar. Green is a member of Eckerd's Athletic Diversity Action Committee and Staff Advisory Council. She also serves on the Sunshine State Conference Statistics Committee.
